Beyond
priority objectives, during the 90s, the European
Union has conceived the "community initiatives":
four specific programmes seek common solutions
to specific problems within the European Regions.
These initiatives benefit from 5.35% of the Structural
Funds and are financed, each, under a single Fund:
|
>
INTERREG:
it encourages cross-border, transnational
and interregional cooperation, through
alliances that go beyond borders, in order
to favour a balanced planning of multi
regional territories. The Programme is
financed by the ERDF.
>
LEADER+:
aims to gather the socio-economic actors
of the rural regions in order to stimulate
new local strategies of sustainable
development. The Programme is financed
by the EAGGF-Guideline.
>
URBAN
II: it supports mainly innovative
actions in declining urban areas or
cities. The
Programme is financed by the ERDF.
>
EQUAL:
it means to combat inequalities and
discriminations in access to the labor
market. This initiative is financed
by the ESF (European Social Fund).
|
"Innovative actions"
have been finally created in order to facilitate
dynamism and innovation within the European regions.
These activities aim to create new strategies
and experimental phases of projects.
